Today in B4, we worked in
groups to perform our own news reports based on key events from The
1,000-Year-Old Boy. Each group took on the role of TV reporters, anchors, and
eyewitnesses to retell parts of the story as if they were breaking news.
We performed five reports
in sequence about the fire in the woods, the missing boy Alfie, the tragic
death of his mother, Alfie being found safe, and finally a community vigil
remembering his mum.
The activity helped us to
explore character emotions, practise expression and tone, and use formal
language for reporting. It also supported our understanding of structure,
perspective, and how information is presented to an audience.
