Each year, we focus on Health and Well-being across school for a whole week. The week involves the school inviting health and well-being visitors into school to lead sessions or groups and year groups of children going out into our local community to experience different activities that promote not only physical well-being but emotional well-being and often social well-being. We work closely with the Doctor's surgery too, with children visiting the surgery for a range of talks.
During our last Health and Wellbeing Week, we were able to offer:
Yoga for parents and children in KS1
Yoga for YR and Y1 and Y5 and Y6
Tennis a group of KS 2 children
Gym and trampolining at The Wingate Centre for Y2 and Y3
Crown green bowling for Y4 and Y5
Tag Rubgy for Y5 and Y6
Didi Rugby for Little Wrens
Personal Training to EYFS, Y1 and Y2
Understanding our feelings and emotions using The Blob Tree to Yrs 4, 5 and 6.
Understanding vaccines and immunisation — Y4 — Doctor's surgery
A visit to the Treatment Room — YR and Y1 — Doctor's surgery
Parents and grandparents join us for a couple of our Wrenbury Walks, too.
The school also hosts Sports Day, inviting parents and grandparents to come and watch their children compete for the Ian Cowley Sporting Achievement Trophy.
They are also invited to come in at the end of the week for a Science Share, where children teach their children, through science activities, about eating and drinking healthily.
