Uniform

At Wrenbury Primary School, pupils wear their uniform with pride. Our uniform shows that ‘We all matter’ and are equal members of our school community. We believe that our high uniform standards promotes positive behaviour, supports effective teaching and learning and contributes to the ethos of our school. Our uniform policy has been developed in line with the Education (Guidance about Costs of School Uniforms) Act 2021 to ensure our uniform is affordable for families and keeps the number of expensive branded items low. Our school eco-council also heavily encourage the use of second-hand uniform.

School Uniform Details

We encourage all our children to wear their uniform smartly. All items of uniform must be labelled. It consists of the following:

  • White polo shirt/ white shirt
  • Red jumper / cardigan (with or without the school logo)
  • Charcoal/grey trousers and grey shorts for the summer term
  • Grey/red tartan pinafore or pleated skirt (optional)
  • Charcoal/grey pinafore or pleated skirt
  • Dark grey or white socks / dark grey or red tights
  • Red and white checked dress with white socks for summer term if desired
  • Red book bag (with or without logo) Reception – Year 2 only
  • Sensible black school shoes (no boots, shoes with heels or trainers)

PE and Games Kit

Pupils need an appropriately labelled PE kit consisting of the following:

  • MANDATORY – Black and red PE top with the school logo
  • Black and red PE hoodie with logo (recommended) or plain black hoodie / zipped jacket without logo
  • Black shorts
  • Black jogging bottoms or leggings for colder weather
  • Trainers
  • Grey / white or black socks

Children will come to school dressed in PE kits on their PE days. This change has been implemented since the pandemic as it means pupils get much longer active PE sessions, pupils are far less likely to lose items and pupils don't need to worry about privacy when getting changed.

Pupil premium – children who quality for pupil premium IRFSM (income related free school meals) will be entitled to a branded PE top at the start of each academic year. This will be arranged by the school office and uniform supplier.

General Notes on Appearance

Shirts should be tucked in at all times

Jewellery:

Jewellery should not be worn or brought into school.

If children have pierced ears, ONE pair of discreet studs may be worn. Our PE policy states that earrings must be removed for PE lessons for health and safety reasons. If your child is unable to remove the earrings themselves they should not come to school with them in on PE days or come to school with plasters that the child can use to cover their earrings.
No nail varnish or acrylic nails

Hairstyles:

No hair dye

The style should be appropriate for school, hair should not obstruct pupils’ vision

Pupils with long hair must be tied back for health and safety reasons

Non-compliance with the uniform and appearance policy:

Parents of pupils who do not wear the correct uniform, will be contacted by letter and requested to send their child in correct uniform the following day. Children will be asked to change into school ‘spares’ during the school day.

Pupils who wear make-up/nail varnish or excess jewellery will be required to remove these

Persistent and defiant non-compliance with the policy will result in the parent(s) being asked to come into school to meet with the Headteacher
