Our school trip to Delamere forest this week couldn’t have been more enjoyable. We had beautiful sunshine- perfect for woodland investigations, becoming geographers, exploring how to craft and create using nature around us and generally soaking up the wonderful environment we’ve been learning all about in the classroom too. The year 3 children particularly loved learning specific skills to complete tasks for Forestry England and their tree surveys. We learned techniques for measuring tree growth and height, found out how to identify trees form their bark texture and branch formation and learned many new species of tree in a temperate forest like Delamere. The year 2 children enjoyed learning about natural pigments and used these to create amazing nature inspired art work. We had a few charcoal stained noses by the end of the morning! We are excited to share all our skills with each other over the remaining of the half term and also creating some wonderful writing about our trip for our learning journeys. Thank you for your superb behaviour base 3 and well done for putting 100% into learning new skills on our day out. We are very proud of all of our children.
