It has been so lovely watching the children's enthusiasm grow this week for our Stone Age topic. We have been delving into Stig of the Dump further, learning how to use adjectives to create expanded noun phrases in our descriptions of Stig's cave.
Not only that, but we have been beginning to understand the historical timeline from Stone Age, through to Bronze Age and into the Iron Age. Some of the Year 3s also connected their previous learning and found that the Roman times succeeded this important era that we're learning about now- very impressive! Ask the children if they can tell you the difference between the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic eras...I'm confident they now can.
During playtimes this week have been delighted to find the children choosing to make Stone Age teepees in the forest area, creating cave-like dens with very realistic camp fires and seating out of rocks and tree stumps, and even making 'Stone Age lollipops' using fallen apples from our trees!
Base 3 have roped in members of other classes into their exciting play, teaching them what they've learnt so far... keep it up Base 3!
