Namaste!
This week, we have been on an Indian adventure to explore the Hindu festival of Diwali. We listened to the story, Lighting a Lamp by Jonny Zucker and Jan Barger and followed a family as they made rangoli patterns, lit divas and watched a brilliant firework display to celebrate their amazing festival of light. Throughout the week, we have made our own diva lamps, decorated ranngoli patterns, looked at mendhi patterns and created our own, made delicious coconut barfi to enjoy the sweetness of the Divali celebration, used a variety of construction materials to build temples, listened to the story about Prince Rama fighting the demon Ravana to rescue his wife, Sita and danced along to Indian music.
We have also taken part in World Nursery Rhyme Week. The focus rhymes for this year have been;
Jack and Jill
Hickory, Dickory Dock
Heads, Shoukders, Knees and Toes
Row, Row, Row, our Boat
The Wheels on the Bus.
We have enjoyed lots of activities based around these rhymes. And because we have been around the world to India, we enjoyed singing the rhyme, The Wheels on the Tuk Tuk.
As always, it has been a magical week. Little Wrens, you make me smile every day and I am so proud of each and everyone of you.
Have a lovely weekend
