This week, Little Wrens will be learning about why we wear a poppy. We began our week by watching the CBeebies animation Poppies and then had a lovely discussion about what we saw. The children shared their thoughts and learned that we wear a poppy to remember the brave men and women who fought to keep us safe so that we can live in peace.

During the morning, we enjoyed a range of creative poppy-themed activities — we made a poppy wreath, painted a beautiful field of poppies, and even created poppies using playdough.

In our mathematics session, we were introduced to the number one, and the children created their very own ‘one’ picture. In phonics, we explored the sound ‘s’ and took part in lots of fun activities to help us hear and blend the sound in words.

To finish our busy day, dressed in our odd socks, we celebrated how unique we all are.
