Diwali celebrations in Base 1

Children in Base 1 have had a wonderful time celebrating Diwali this week, the festival of light. In Drawing Club, we read the story ofRama and Sita and learned exciting new vocabulary such as chariot, warrior, battle, and mighty. The children loved using their imagination to build their own chariots outside, exploring different materials they might need. They also got creative making their own Diwali lamps from salt dough, working together to mix the dough, shape their lamps, and carefully paint them in bright, festive colours. We explored beautiful Rangoli patterns too, linking back to our pattern learning from last week. In Drawing Club, the children showed fantastic progress as they wrote their special 'magic code' to activate their drawings, using the new phonemes and digraphs with confidence. It's been a joyful week full of creativity, teamwork, and exciting new learning!
