Careers Week – Pilot

Back home  /  Careers Week – Pilot

Today, Base 4 had a very special visitor—Dom, a real-life pilot, came in to talk to us about his exciting career flying planes! The whole class was buzzing with excitement, and we couldn’t wait to hear all about his job.

Dom began by telling us what inspired him to become a pilot and how he trained to fly. He explained how important maths, science, and geography are when flying aircraft, and he even shared some fun facts about different types of planes. The children were fascinated to learn how pilots plan their routes, check weather patterns, and keep passengers safe in the air.

One of the highlights of the visit was when Dom showed us photos from inside the cockpit and explained what all the different buttons and screens do. We learned about how planes take off, stay in the air, and land—and it felt like we were right there in the pilot’s seat!

The class asked some brilliant questions, like, “What’s the longest flight you’ve ever done?” and, “Have you ever flown through a storm?” Dom answered them all with enthusiasm and really inspired the children to dream big and work hard.

We are so grateful to Dom for taking the time to visit and share his story. It was a day full of learning, curiosity, and imagination—some of us might even become pilots one day!

Thank you, Dom!
