In geography, we have been learning about pollution and the different types. We looked at which would have the greatest impact in the environment and had great discussions about it. We then focused on light pollution and explored a map of the UK to find the areas with the highest and lowest levels of light pollution. We used our prior learning and topographical maps to help us understand why light pollution levels are lower in Scotland and Wales.
We were then able to go outside and start our fieldwork. We started by looking at sources of light pollution in the school grounds and the type of light pollution that each one was. We then used the light meters to measure the light intensity. We will continue to collect data for the light intensity throughout the week.
