Base 3 Scientists

In science we are learning about plants. Yesterday we made a giant floor plant using all the children as the different plant parts doing their own roles. We have learned about the functions of the roots, stem, leaves and flowers.

Today have been busy beginning a new science investigation to help us learn about water transportation in plants.

We have set up an experiment using white flowers (chrysanthemums and carnations) in vases of water. Into the water we added food colouring and ensured the variables of water quantity and food colouring quantity were consistent for every test group.

The variable we decided to change was the temperature of the water to see how that impacts on the transport of the water through the plant.
We all made predictions before the experiments were set up and so we are very excited to see the results!
