Base 3 Capacity

Back home  /  Base 3 Capacity

This week in Base 3 we have taken our maths learning outside! The children have been busy practising their estimating and measuring skills with volume.. We have been learning how to sensibly estimate volumes and realise how different capacities of different containers can look in real life. We played games in teams to try to fill particular volumes in containers in order to help us learn what a litre of liquid looks like. We have become really accurate measurers.... Maybe some baking or fruit cocktail making at home could consolidate the children's learning from this week!

This has massively helped us remember the difference between volume and capacity. The capacity is the amount that a container CAN hold, whereas the volume of the container is what is ACTUALLY in it.

Let's hope we can enjoy more learning outside next week if the dry, sunny weather continues.
