Over the past few weeks Base 3 have relished the learning opportunities that this incredible topic, 'Contrasting Climates', has brought to us.We have embraced sharing our learning about different creatures who can survive in extreme climates, such as the Arctic Circle, in a whole school assembly. There were polar bears, Arctic jellyfish and orca whales all present at the assembly! We even had climate officers to inform the audience about the dangers and threats climate change is causing to these amazing creatures.
We have written non- chronological reports about our chosen favourite animals too, Both year 2 and year 3 children have really engaged in this task to show off their best writing techniques to interest the reader and wow them with their fascinating facts.
We have also then been linking this knowledge to our science learning, classifying these animals as carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. This has also led us onto investigating the different animals' diets, allowing us to compare them to a balanced healthy diet of a human and what our nutritional needs are as animals ourselves.
We have really enjoyed linking all our learning together, it really helps us to remember all our new knowledge.
