Base 4 — you are simply super! Your enthusiasm never ceases to make me smile.

Today our book order arrived — the children were so excited, they cheered and whooped — particularly when I pulled out two copies of 'The Executioner's Daughter'! I wish I could bottle the sheer joy they expressed at receiving new books. Wonderful Base 4.

This week have have been so busy, it seems as though every day we say 'Oh my goodness, is it that time already?' We have spent a large proportion of this week developing our reading, grammar and writing skills; something that we have really enjoyed. The children have used a toolkit to help them create a range of sentence types to keep readers interested and to create impact in their writing. As a result of their hard work, focus and engagement, their writing has been simply fabulous. As well as this, we have been developing our oracy skills; our confidence to speak in front of the class. We know we need to keep our heads up, shoulders back and project our voices with confidence. The chidlren are becoming far more confident with this which is great to see. Well done Base 4.

In maths we have been looking at multiplication and the ways in which we can use the inverse operation to help us solve problems. As always we have enjoyed our morning arithmetic sessions too, I keep trying to catch the children out by making mistakes but they are too good- they get me every time!

We have also given our clay work a nice gloss finish by painting them with PVA glue- they look great on display.
In RE we have been summarising our learning about the reformation and what this has taught us about Christianity. We started to think about a big question; 'Does worship make you happy?' For this we looked at what was meant by 'worship' and what was meant by 'happy' — the children had some insightful ideas about what 'happy' was but they were sure that happiness was a selfless thing, something that often came from the joy of seeing others achieve or be happy themselves. We have also enjoyed PE, a learning journey publishing session and zoom assemblies.

Base 4, thank you for another lovely week. Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
