This week we have had a slightly out of routine week, but this has been due to opportunities with visitors and different teachers in class.
Year 3 have been fortunate to receive their first of two tennis sessions this week and they were really excited to practise their skills in the tennis courts by the doctor's surgery.
We have also been getting stuck into our RE learning, some being led by Mrs Gallimore-Johnson. A new religious study this term, new to most of us in Base 3, the religion of Islam. We have learnt that people who follow Islam are called Muslims and we are especially lucky to have a member of the Islamic faith in our class! We have heard about her experiences so far and have had great fun seeing what we would find inside a mosque. The children have particularly enjoyed creating some learning journey work about the interesting washing ritual before prayer called 'Wudu'.
In Maths we have been busy securing our strategies for multiplication and also beginning to divide, in Year 2 using manipulatives to help us see how we group and share equally, and in Year 3 using our partitioning skills and times tables to help us find the answers.
In English, we have been busy creating descriptive writing about the famous observation car of 'The Highland Falcon' train. We have been fascinated by its glasshouse carriage roof and its intricate and plush detailing! Well done for such fantastic engagement with new and interesting vocabulary Base 3. Tomorrow the children will be applying their writing skills in an independent writing session to hopefully show off their vocabulary choices and sentence work.
