SS: December 2016
Another week has flown by in Base 4!
Despite the cold weather steam has been seeping out of our windows we have been working that hard! We have been learning all about different units of measure and how to convert between them. We, hopefully, now know all about the different units for: capacity, mass and length. Using this, and our knowledge of shape from last week, we then looked at finding the perimeters of various 2D shapes. Onto area next week!
In English, we have been looking at persuasive writing and jumping off the fence from a balanced argument and choosing a side of an argument. This week we looked a letter Mr Sargeant wrote about giving teachers free chocolate (he talked for hours about that!!). We looked at all the vocabulary used and how we can use all the learnt strategies to up level our writing.
On Thursday we had our Music concert. The children have worked so hard on this. Many were only introduced to a trumpet/ trombone in early September and the music they are producing now is absolutely fantastic. We are very proud of everybody who took part and a massive thank you to Mrs Rowlands and Mrs Winward who helped the children every week.
Finally, on Friday we had our Christmas Fair. It was great to see so many people there and we all had a great time on the stalls getting into the Christmas Spirit! Only 23 Days to go! Ho Ho Ho! We hopefully raised lots of money for the school and the children were proud to sell their crafts that they worked very hard to sell. Thanks to everyone that contributed.
Have a lovely weekend.

What a wonderful visit we had this morning! As part of our farming topic, we were visited by two tractors; one old and one new. The children were wowed by them and asked some wonderful questions. They wanted to know how and why the tractors had changed over time, what they were made of and how much weight they could pull. Thank you to the lovely farmers who took time out of their very busy day to...
