Miss Phillips: March 2019
We have had a great week in Base 2, showing what we have learnt so far and applying our learning in a range of contexts.
On Monday afternoons, year 2 are taking part in a sequence of boxing sessions delivered by Sportscape to develop their fitness, discipline and understanding of the sport. The children are very much enjoying this opportunity.
On Thursday, the children arrived at school very excited because we were going to the Sea Life Centre to learn about different sea creatures. We had a great day and the children represented our school very well. We had mini sketch books and had to choose different animals, draw a picture of it, write down its name, find out what habitat it lives in and what it eats. We saw some amazing fish including a Green Moray Eel that was 2 metres long and Japanese Spider Crabs with a leg span of up to 18 feet! Following our trip, the children were very excited to write about the day, recording all of their favourite parts and creatures.
Next week is out final week of Spring term, where has the time gone? We will be finishing off some of our Learning Journey work which involves making boats!

The water we were drinking may have been sucked up by the trunk of a woolly mammoth or even supped Tutankhamun! The children loved the thought of this and we then learnt about the water cycle — the best recycling system! This...

We then moved on to learning about how light is reflected and we came across a problem. During a battle between the Romans and the Celts, what would they do if they wanted to see over a wall/barrier, to see if the enemy were advancing towards them. We discovered...
