Year 5 have been investigating the effects of air resistance in science this week. The children designed and made their own parachutes before carrying out a fair test to see how long each parachute took to reach the ground from a height.
The children explored how the size and shape of the parachute affected the speed of descent and discussed how air resistance works against gravity. They carefully timed each test, recorded their results and compared findings to decide which parachute design was the most effective. It was fantastic to see such great teamwork, scientific thinking and enthusiasm throughout the investigation!
