We had a wonderful celebration of reading, over two days, for World Book Day. A visit from Rebecca King, a local author, a week last Thursday was inspiring and the children asked her some fantastic questions about her journey to becoming a published author, what inspired her and what is she working on now. Rebecca also gave an insight into all the jobs that the children (Y6) could aspire to do, linked to book publishing.
On Monday, the children dressed up — we had the BFG, Wednesday Adams, the Mad Hatter, Hermione and Harry Potter, and a few Robin Hoods inspired by Base 4's current class story, 'Robin of Sherwood' by Michael Morpurgo. It was lovely to see our Y6 reading buddies spending time with their reception buddies. We held a Book Swap across school and raised £84 from our 50p donations. The money will be used to buy special reads for each class. A happy celebration of reading for pleasure.

The children loved the thought of this and we then learnt about the water cycle — the best recycling system! This...

During a battle between the Romans and the Celts, what would they do if they wanted to see over a wall/barrier, to see if the enemy were advancing towards them. We discovered...
