Welcome to a new week... and despite the chill in the air, the sun is still with us! Once again, thank you to all who took part in making the video for the staff at school. Chatting to them today (at a safe distance), everyone commented on how lovely and thoughtful it was – it made us all really happy and appreciated – thank you! Now to the catch ups...
From Sam, Lauren, Sophie and Joshie's mum...
Hi all, hope you are well! This week we've been looking at how we keep fit and healthy. We've been on our bikes, flickers and scooters daily. We did a time trial every day and recorded the number of trampoline bounces, wall bounces and steps that we could do in a minute, then we tried to beat our score the next day. The girls then found their own maths problems and facts from their data. We enjoyed doing a food hunt and then sorted this onto healthy plates or unhealthy plates. We had a debate on what drinks were healthy and unhealthy for us. We have learnt to take our temperature and understand what this means and also how to look after ourselves if we do become ill. Take care! The Agnews x I'm really enjoying seeing what you're learning through your theme weeks – great to see all the 'keeping fit and healthy' work you've done Lauren, Sophie and Joshie – looked great fun as well as as great learning!
From Carie, Alice's mum...
We did a VE Day tea party, decorations and even did 1920 hair styles and learned about why we have VE Day and what it was like at the time. We talked about how scary it must of been before and why we are thankful for all the soldiers that fought for us. We did some more on space and made a marble run game in which the marbles are space ships and the aim is to try and get them to the different planets and not get lost in space. We talked about what each planet must be like and what it is like to be on a spaceship.
We also made an obstacle course on the road out front for everyone to have a go on and exercise which was lots of fun. Alice has also wanted to help with some of the head bands I was making for the NHS to help keep the masks off their ears and when she found out it was her friend's birthday she wanted to make some headbands for her to. Alice was sewing on my machine with help to make them Alice, your VE Day celebrations looked lovely – lots of banners and a fantastic afternoon tea with delicious looking eats. I like how you've continued learning about space. It's really exciting. Mr Cador was so fascinated by the satellites and looking for 'shooting stars' in the meteor showers that he's ordered a telescope to star gaze! I found out that Mr Ellis loves space too. It's always lovely to read of the kindness being shown – your mum making the head bands for the NHS staff and you making some for your friend's birthday is lovely, Alice.
From Tracy and Natalie, Alesha and Ollie's mums...
Alesha and Ollie spent their bank holiday Friday drawing rainbows and posting them to the neighbours who hasn't got one in their windows. Another very kind deed – well done Ollie and Alesha. I'm sure the neighbours enjoyed your big smiles too!
From Lesley, Charlie's mum...
Hi All, A quick update on Charlie's pumpkins- he's checking the pots for any teeny weeds that have popped up and they will be ready to transplant into bigger pots soon. Charlie, your pumpkin seeds have grown exceptionally well and definitely need re-potting!! Great gardening!
From Becky, Fraser and April's mum...
Hi Bessa, We hope everyone had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sun. Fraser and April continued with the VE day theme and sent all the residents in Wrenbury Nursing a bookmark they had coloured in. Fraser and April, I'm sure the residents at the nursing home love your book mark. They will so happy to know you care and that you thought about them. Like Alice, I'm sure you've learned a lot about VE day and why we were celebrating the 75th anniversary!
So that's it for Monday! I'm really proud of you all. Keep safe everyone. Bessa
