Base 5 have had a fantastic day out at Speke Hall today exploring a real Tudor house. We began our day exploring the grounds. We saw the Victorian kitchen gardens which were added when the Watt family lived there. We then walked through the formal gardens which were lovely. Eventually, we found the house and it was magnificent. We sketched different parts of the house. After lunch, we could finally enter the house, which was once owned by the Norris family and was later updated in the Victorian times. A lot of the original features could still be seen including the hole that was used to eavesdrop on visitors, the wooden panelling on the walls, two yew trees named Adam and Eve and the priest hole where the Catholic priest would have hidden when people came to search houses.
The children had a fantastic day and were extremely well behaved; we are very proud of them.
