This morning’s Welly Wednesday took us on a very exciting caterpillar hunt! First, we shared the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar and learned some fascinating facts about caterpillars, including what they like to eat and how many legs they have.

Then it was time to head outside and put our new knowledge to the test. We knew that leaves would be the best place to look, and can you believe it – Nixie spotted a caterpillar almost straight away! We were all so excited. As we continued our hunt, we looked carefully for clues, such as holes in leaves, which can often mean caterpillars are nearby. Our searching paid off as we discovered another caterpillar and even some caterpillar eggs!

We had a wonderful time exploring nature, developing our observation skills and learning more about the fascinating life cycle of a butterfly. What a fantastic Welly Wednesday adventure!
