Today in Little Wrens we enjoyed Welly Wednesday continuing our learning around the story Tidy. We met Pete the badger, who liked everything to be neat and tidy, but we soon discovered that nature doesn’t always need to be “perfect” to be just right. We had lots of lovely discussions about how important it is to look after our world, and how some “messy” areas, like leaves, sticks and long grass, are actually homes for insects and other animals. The children shared some fantastic ideas and really showed their growing understanding of how to care for our environment. We then headed outside to explore our area. We became nature detectives, looking carefully at what we could find. We noticed some areas that were perfect for wildlife and talked about why we should leave them just as they are. We also found some rubbish, so we carefully collected it and made sure it was put in the bin to help keep our environment safe.

To finish our session, we created nature collages using the treasures we had found  – don’t they look beautiful
