Today, Little Wrens took part in the RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch. Armed with clipboards and pencils, we spent time outdoors observing which birds landed in our school grounds. We spotted pigeons, crows, blackbirds, sparrows, a blue tit and even a robin!
Even though it was a little cold, the children were highly engaged and showed great focus during this activity. Back in Little Wrens, we used paper plates to create our own birds and threaded Cheerios onto pipe cleaners to make food for the birds. We carefully hung them outside and can’t wait to see if the birds enjoy their tasty treats.
We also enjoyed sharing two stories, The Bouncy Blackbird and The Lucky Duck, and loved learning about the different features of garden birds. It has been a wonderful day full of learning and creativity. 🐦✨
