Little Wrens News of the Week

This week, we have been story tellers, 4 detectives and dinosaur experts! Here is a snapshot of our week...

To support our personal, social and emotional development, we have been learning that we are all wonderful and special and that we all have different character strengths. This weeks we learned about the love and kindness strength. The children have been encouraged to talk about times when they were kind to others and how that made them both feel. As a class we agreed that when we are kind to each other it fills each others hearts with love.

Within our communication, language and literacy development, we were introduced to the text, 'The Little Green Dinosaur'. We were introduced to vocabulary such as, hatched, fierce, spiky and slow. Throughout the week, we learned to speak the story using actions and our story map. The children have been working hard on using intonation and expression as they retell the story. To support our writing development, we have drawn a picture of the Little Green Dinosaur and we have completed activities to support our sequencing of the story. Next week we are going to draw our own story maps to retell the story.

In our mathematics sessions we have been introduced to the number 4. We have looked at different representations of 4, then we became 4 detectives and hunted for signs of 4 in the room.

It has been lovely to spend longer periods of time in the outdoor environment this week. So, to support our physical development, we have been balancing, climbing, whizzing around on bikes and scooters, hopping about on space hoppers and looked at different ways we can use a ball. To enhance our fine motor skills, we have manipulated clay to create a dinosaur, they all look amazing!

As always, it has been a super busy but fun week. Our Little Wrens really do shine each and every day. I am very proud of you all.
