This week has whizzed by...
Thank you for taking the time to go on a walk and collect autumn your autumn treasures. We have had a lovely time sharing all your finds. I have been super impressed at all the new language I have heard this week as you have talked about your finds, "It's a golden yellow leaf", "Spiky" "The grass is tickly" "The leaves are changing brown because they die".
During our literacy sessions, we have read the story, 'Rosie's Walk' by Pat Hutchins. We created a story map and used actions to help us recall and retell the story. Throughout the week, we have explored positional language used within the story, sequenced the story, drawn a picture of the character and the setting of the story and some of us even marked our own story map – wow! It has been lovely to observe the children using the story map to retell the story to their friends.
In our mathematics sessions, we have been introduced to the number 1.We looked at different ways that we could represent one. For example,1 counter on the five frame, 1 pine cone. We then worked on using a stem sentence to talk about a single until.... "I can see one apple". We also worked together to create a 'one wonderful world' collage.
To support our fine motor development, we have used tweezers to transport autumn objects, taken part in dough disco sessions, made marks on leaves and have enjoyed threading beads to make a necklace.
Thank you for another super week Little Wrens
