What a lot of space-tastic fun we have had this week! I can't quite believe how much we have done. We have been busy making space robots and spaceships — we also made a space caravan would you believe! The children created ramps and raced the space men down it- they looked at lots of different ways to speed them up and to catch them at the end.
We thought about what we wanted to be when we grew up, as the girl in our story wanted to be a star. The children had such great ideas, they wanted to be; a policeman, a teacher, a ranger, a farmer and of course...a princess! We cut out and painted our own stars with our future aspirations on and then put on display.
As well as this we created our own planets. We thought about what we would like in our planets and selected our colours accordingly. We then rolled the plain planets around in the paint using old lunch trays to crate a pattern- this was great fun and trickier than you may first think- there is a lot of control involved! We then tried another method — using tissue paper to decorate. This was required even more concentration and was great fun, even if a little sticky! These too have been put on display in the classroom.
Oh and it doesn't stop here, we also created a space cafe and tired real astronaut food! This had a very mixed reception with some saying it was yum, others said yuck!
We also learnt another song which we shared in our weekly Zoom assembly, it is lovely to see how much more confident the children are becoming.
