Base have have been rather busy over the last few weeks.
In English the children have been creating a piece of descriptive writing focus on an island that is being battered by storms and swallowed by the sea; just like the island of Wing from our class story. The children's final pieces have been incredible, they have selected words and phrases carefully to create an impact on the reader and have worked on developing their use of cohesive devises to help their text flow.
In maths we have been learning about ratio; this is something that the children have really grasped well- well done all.
In our history we have been looking at the Indus Valley, firstly we looked at where this was placed on a timeline. We then learnt more about it by looking at archaeological digs and artifacts and what these told us about the people of the time. The children were brilliant at this, bringing back prior learning and building on the views and theories of other by using the evidence they were given.
In art we have focused on purposeful mark making, taking great care in how and why we are making our marks. We looked at a range of artists to support us with this. We then looked at how to paint on material, creating the backdrop to what will be our textile and tapestry artwork.
In DT we have begun to think about dams and flooding. We looked at the UN Sustainable Development Goals and what these meant for our world. We realised that even focusing on one of these goals could positively impact the others. We thought about how our learning in DT (we plan to make flood- resistant houses) could support our world in the future.
As well as this we have enjoyed PE, RE, music, French, playing in the snow, time with our buddies and even enjoyed a lesson from Cheshire Young Carers- what a busy Base we are!
