Base 5 News

What a busy week back we have had!
This week we have delved into the science of light, learning about how it travels, how it reflects and how it refracts. After this we then learnt about how we see, how our eye receives the information and how this information is then processed in the brain. The children loved this, they asked so many questions and wanted to find out as much as they could – well done Base 5.
In English, we have started our next writing unit which is focused on biography. This week we have created a scaffold for our work bringing together key facts with sentence starters to support cohesion and then adding a little more detail. Next week we will start creating our biography on 'The Father of English History'- Bede.
In maths we have been learning about prime, cubed and squared numbers as well as focusing on percentages of amounts and mixed numbers in our arithmetic.
As well as this we have enjoyed a swimming lesson, PE lesson, an RE lesson with great debates, read to our buddies, carried out a Y6 assembly and worked on some of our learning journey pages.

The children have also shared their half term homework which was focused on autumn – what a range of wonderful work! We had paintings, poems, textiles and even a dried leaf bouquet. Well done all.
