What a day of travelling fun for Base 3!
We have had such an adventure today. We walked to Wrenbury Railway Station, hopping onto a train through Nantwich and onto Crewe, then we enjoyed a very informative (and VIP!) tour of Crewe Railway Station. Our guide Niki was fantastic, answering all of our questions. We witnessed different types of trains, including a pendolino, and explored the booking hall and the northern junction. We even saw a real engine from the Royal Train, called the "Queen's Messenger" and had full private VIP access to platform 13, which is off limits to the general public. This is a secret platform that is no longer in use but it used to be used as a Royal Mail subway for the transportation of the Royal Mail! How cool.
The children were so excited throughout the day and it was lovely to hear lots of intriguing questions, deepening their understanding of the industry and how it impacts us today.
We're looking forward to creating some great writing about our trip next week.
