Base 2 have been using sardines as part of their observations art work. First of all we used a continuous line drawing exercise to help the children make the transition to calm drawing. We then moved on to making a backwards forwards sketch, again to help build knowledge of the subject matter (to help the children better observe their subject matter), and to help them coordinate looking with drawing. Finally children used watercolours and limited their palette to 2 or 3 colours – but made sure they understood they had the freedom to "see" any colours they wanted to see within the fish (through careful looking).
I am sure you will agree that the outcome for all children was excellent and a very high standard.
