This week, we began our Welly Time with a lovely story called The Hedgehog Who Needed a Rest, all about a little hedgehog noticing the signs of autumn and searching for a cosy place to rest. After the story, we talked about what the hedgehog might need to feel safe and warm, and the children had some brilliant ideas! We decided to help by building our own hedgehog houses around the school grounds. The children worked together to find four perfect spots, then explored the forest area to collect autumnal treasures like leaves, twigs, and moss to make the houses extra snug. Everyone had so much fun being creative and caring for nature!
