Base 1 – Walter the Baker

This week, we enjoyed the story Walter the Baker by Eric Carle! We explored the ingredients needed tomake pretzels, learning aboutwhere flour comes from and why harvest time is such an importantpart of theyear. We discovered how wheat is grown and harvestedbefore being turned into the flour we use in ourbaking. We then gotbusy creating our very own class combine harvester, learning moreabout how farmersgather their crops. To finish off our exciting week,we rolled, shaped and twisted our dough to make our owndeliciouspretzels, just like Walter the Baker! We had lots of fun learningthrough stories, creativity and hands-on experiences.
