It has been a lovely first week back in Little Wrens. It has been wonderful to meet our new starters -you are settling in so well, and I am so proud of how all the children have welcomed you so beautifully. We truly are a wonderful Little Wrens family.

Our learning this week has taken us on a journey to revisit and explore feelings and emotions through The Colour Monster. We have talked about what makes us feel certain ways and discussed how we can support each other during these times. We enjoyed circle times making different faces and actions to represent emotions, alongside lots of colour-sorting activities. We have also been spending time tidying our planters and planting in our garden. We are excited to look after our plants and can’t wait to see how they grow. In maths, we explored height and length, working hard to use the language tall, short, and long during our investigations. We had great fun in the forest area measuring sticks and plants. In phonics, our N2s have continued developing their listening skills- hearing initial sounds in words and beginning to hear the blend. Our N1s have been learning the rhyme Wind the Bobbin Up and have explored sounds, sound patterns, and syllables- great listening, Little Wrens! During P.E. with Mrs Phoenix, the children continued to develop their ball skills and enjoyed much-loved time on the bikes and scooters. In our My Happy Mind session, we began thinking about things we are grateful for and talked about the things and people that have made us smile this week. During provision time, we have loved looking at books, building homes for the Colour Monster with Duplo, baking apple pie in the mud kitchen, using pipes as telescopes, and exploring colouring and mark making. The children are beginning to show a real interest in writing their names, and we have been amazed at how their letter formation is developing-wow!

And so much more… it has been a wonderful week—thank you.

Next week, we will begin our new learning all about how to care for our world, and our Welly Wednesday session will explore World Earth Day.
