Our 'Grand Opening of the Outdoor Classroom' took place on Friday, after school. A huge thank you to the Friends of Wrenbury School committee and helpers for making it a wonderful event to end the week.

The event began with the 'Grand Opening'; the cutting of the ribbon and the receipt of a cheque for £557 from one of our Outdoor Classroom sponsors 'Bakkavor Bread' (formerly Primebake), in front of the whole school.

Then it was time for children (and their parents) to explore and enjoy a plethera of activities in our outdoor setting:

  • the bare foot trail (hugely successful)
  • pond-dipping
  • planting seeds in the garden area
  • making bird feeders
  • clay animal making
  • following the activity trail, including scramble net and tunnel
  • story telling in the woodland
  • adventure play in the forest club area
  • meeting Laura and Charlie's hens

and, when all that was over, it was time for some well-deserved refreshments.

A very big thank you for the time, energy, enthusiasm and support of all involved in preparing for the event and to those who took part. It was a celebration of the vision we have for our children at Wrenbury ~ providing quality rural outdoor education in our fabulous setting with the support of our local community.

Now, that IS how you do a week at school! We have had a wonderful time on our school trip- we braved the cold weather and, in true Base 5 style, got stuck in! We began by carrying out a river study, we had to measure a 10m work zone for our individual groups and then take lots of measurements- the banks, the depth of the river, even the stones IN the river! The children really did do an...

What a busy few weeks Base 3 have had! In Maths, the children have been learning all about fractions! They recapped their learning of what a fraction is, and thought about what makes a whole. They looked at tenths as fractions and decimals moving on to placing fractions on a number line. The children finished the week by learning how to find a fraction of an amount, using a bar model to help...
