Our 'Grand Opening of the Outdoor Classroom' took place on Friday, after school. A huge thank you to the Friends of Wrenbury School committee and helpers for making it a wonderful event to end the week.

The event began with the 'Grand Opening'; the cutting of the ribbon and the receipt of a cheque for £557 from one of our Outdoor Classroom sponsors 'Bakkavor Bread' (formerly Primebake), in front of the whole school.

Then it was time for children (and their parents) to explore and enjoy a plethera of activities in our outdoor setting:

  • the bare foot trail (hugely successful)
  • pond-dipping
  • planting seeds in the garden area
  • making bird feeders
  • clay animal making
  • following the activity trail, including scramble net and tunnel
  • story telling in the woodland
  • adventure play in the forest club area
  • meeting Laura and Charlie's hens

and, when all that was over, it was time for some well-deserved refreshments.

A very big thank you for the time, energy, enthusiasm and support of all involved in preparing for the event and to those who took part. It was a celebration of the vision we have for our children at Wrenbury ~ providing quality rural outdoor education in our fabulous setting with the support of our local community.

What a busy week we had last week! We started off the week by watching an explorer enter an ancient pyramid. We used role play and conscious alley to think abut the characters's thoughts and feelings when entering the pyramid. As a class, we did a lot of vocabulary work to try and expand and develop the vocabulary we use in our writing. We will be using all of this work to produce a piece...

We've had a great time this week in Base 4. We've continued out work on properties of materials, investigating thermal insulators, dissolving and methods of separating materials. The children made some fantastic observations when finding out if materials were soluble or insoluble and lots of scientific inquiry was on display. I was impressed with how well the children used the...

We have been budding scientists this week. After reading our class text 'The Garbage King', we decided that Mamo needed a new mattress as we felt that a straw one probably wasn't that comfy. Before we could even think about making them, we needed to investigate the properties of the materials that we found on the 'garbage dump'. We couldn't make a mattress without...
