Base 3 science
Miss Phillips: July 2023
Today Base 3 have built on their understanding of states of matter following on from learning about the water cycle in spring term. We explored what happens to particles of water when they change from a solid, to a liquid and then a gas through moving around in the playground. We then used this learning to make rice crispy cakes. We timed how long it took to boil water and watched the water evaporate as we could see the steam. We were then able to change the chocolate from a solid to a liquid by placing it in a glass bowl over the boiling water. We then mixed rice crispies into the chocolate and turned it back into a s9lid through cooling it down in the fridge. Our crispy cakes helped us to learn about states of matter and they were very tasty.
