Base 3 History
: November 2023
Today we have started making our own models of canopic jars. In history we have learnt how the ancient Egyptians mummified the bodies of those they loved and, as part of this process, they stored certain organs (liver, lungs, stomach and intestines) in special jars. These jars are made with a representation of one of the sons of Horus, as each one representing a different organ which is stored inside. This has grabbed the children's attention and today we began making our own.

Another busy week has flown by in Base 3. This week, we were amazed by water! We began learning about the water cycle by drinking water that was billions of years old! The water we were drinking may have been sucked up by the trunk of a woolly mammoth or even supped Tutankhamun!
