B4 Viking Day

Back home  /  News  /  Viking Day

Wow- what an action packed and informative day Base 4 had on Thursday. We had a very special visitor join us all day in school as part of our learning about the Vikings and Anglo Saxons.

'Hrothgar', our Viking visitor, immersed all of us into Viking life which has given us the opportunity to explore weaponry, stories of Gods and Goddesses, battle skills, hunting, survival skills and general day to day life as a Viking.

The children particularly enjoyed role play, playing various roles of warriors, Gods and Goddesses and learning first hand how the Vikings dealt with important people when they died! Very well done to all the children who gave their full enthusiasm and acting efforts into making the stories come alive. It's lovely to see in the pictures how much the children were engaged.

We enjoyed learning how to play 'Hnefatafl' (a traditional Viking board game) so much, that we have already made our own versions of the game to play in wet play/treat time.
