Friends of Wrenbury School — Summary of Fundraising Sep 2016 -March 2017
2016 FOWS fundraising began with a School Film event, on Thu 27th October 2016, when the children enjoyed a showing of Kung Fu Panda 3. We started the film night straight after school, on this occasion, and offered the children a hot dog and a drink, along with access to the much-loved tuck shop, which was expertly run by Year 6! The new time worked very well, with staff and FOWS working together to ensure the event ran very smoothly. The children were well behaved and enjoyed the film very much. We made a profit of over £300 for school, so were really pleased with our efforts.
On Friday 21st October we held an informal cake sale, aimed at welcoming children and parents back to school and re-introducing ourselves as the FOWS team. We gathered a number of new names of volunteers willing to help us in future fundraising, and hopefully raised the profile of FOWS to the wider school community. Year 6 were fantastic helpers, once again, and helped us to raise over £90!
On Wednesday 16th November we had the first Bags2School collection of this school year, raising a further £32 of funds.
We continue to receive funds from The Giving Machine on a quarterly basis, and thank all those who have nominated Friends of Wrenbury School as their beneficiary.
The Christmas Fair, on 2nd December 2016, was well organised and attended very well by children, families and extended families, making it a lovely festive event. The children really enjoyed the games on offer, and should also be commended for the fantastic stalls that they helped to put together, and run, each raising a healthy profit for school. The refreshments were enjoyed by all, as always, and the school was filled with many happy children, which was our main goal! Overall, we made a profit of over £1100, which is a fantastic sum!
In summary, the first term of this school year was very successful for FOWS, with a fantastic sum of over £1500 being raised for all our children to enjoy. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the staff and children who have worked so hard to help us, and to all parents who have helped and supported us along the way.
We are looking forward to yet more fun fundraising events which we hope to plan for this term, and hope that we can, once more, count on your support.
With best wishes from,
The Friends of Wrenbury School (FOWS).
The Film Night hosted by FOWS and school on 17th March was another great fundraising success with profits over £300. Well done everyone!
News from FOWS: 6th October 2016
The FOWS AGM took place 5,10.16. The following is a summary of the meeting content.
We are pleased to announce that we were able to appoint a FOWS committee for the school year 2016-17 as follows:
Chair — Sam Heaton
Vice Chair — position vacant
Treasurer — Lyndon Jones
Secretary — Amanda Clark
Sam's nomination was gratefully accepted on the understanding that the remaining, smaller FOWS team will only take on events which we can comfortably manage, and will distribute responsibilities as evenly as possible amongst all members.
We also welcomed new member Rachael Walker, who attended the meeting, and thank the following parents / carers for coming forward to offer their help with upcoming events: Jo Heath, Jenny Parry, Lorraine and Richard Cooke, Lesley and Darren Midwinter. If you wish to add your name to this list, please do let us know!!
FOWS will operate, in future, as a small team working alongside school staff to aid in their fundraising endeavours. We would like to consider all parents and carers as members of FOWS, all part of the same team working to make our children's time at primary school as happy and fulfilled as possible.
The treasurer's financial report for Sept 2015 — Jul 2016 was presented:
Fundraising events raised a total profit of £2516 (income £4871, with an expenditure of £1815).
£10454 was spent on the Outdoor Classroom, coaches for school educational trips, and a gardening club course. These monies were taken from monies accrued by FOWS over a number of years.
Our next meeting will take place next Tuesday 11th Oct at 3.30pm in school — ALL WELCOME. The items for immediate discussion will be the forthcoming Film Night and the Christmas Fair.
